| The bay of Jeranto
is undoubtedly one of the most picturesque places of all Massa Lubrense
territory. The footpath to get there starts from Nerano square,
and it continues among the typical shrubs of the Mediterranean bush,
such as carobs, bay oaks, lentisk, euphorbias, and olive trees.
Everything surrounded by a breath-taking panoramic frame. |

Once you get to the
holdings run by F.A.I. since 1986 you can choose whether to go on
towards the 16th century tower of Montalto or continue along the
footpath to the small beach of Capitiello.
In the past Jeranto had been a calcareous stone quarry, as the missing
part of the hill and the remains of an industrial building show. |

| In fact, after the
excavations, led by the Bureau of Archaeological Superintendence
of Naples and Caserta, two round lime-kilns have come to light,
as well as the remains of a villa of the 2nd century BC and some
ceramic potsherds. |
