| The church of
Sant'Agata |
| |
| Founded by the Casafestina
family in 1745, the latin cross church is amongst the most architecturally
interesting, religious buildings in the district of Massa Lubrense.
In the nave there are three chapels on each side, at the extremity
of the transept we find two family chapels. |

| The exquisitely
beautiful high altar which is amongst the major works of art of
the sorrentine peninsula, was acquired by the parish priest Giovanbattista
Casola in 1845 from the Gerolimini in Naples. It's an important
work of the Florentine school of XVI century and a fantastic work
of polychrome marble hard shaped stones and mother of pearl, very
lively, with light and dark effects made by the famous architect
Dionisio Lazzari in 1654. |

| Inside, also, many
XVI century paintings of notable interest. Recent restoration work
has, unexpectedly, uncovered great decoration and rare local sceneries
such as in the painting of "Madonna delie Grazie" by Giovanni
Antonio d'Amato. |
